Ken: Hello, I’m Ken Barner. I’m the owner of Harley-Davidson of Quantico. We're in Dumfries, VA, we've been here since 2013.

Michelle: Very cool! I understand you guys also have some sister stores?

Ken: We also own Old Dominion H-D and Stonewall H-D.

Michelle: What do you guys usually specialize in? Like as far as Modifications or upgrades?

Ken: So, we have a sister thing that I do, which is my little project that we call Quantico Custom Designs. And that started in 2014. We started with the big wheels and then the big wheel craze went away and then we got into the fat tire bikes. And then that sort of kind of fizzled and now we're onto the performance bagger stuff. We still do some fat tire stuff from time to time. We do a lot of performance work, you know, big motor stuff.

Michelle: Absolutely. Do you mainly work on Twin Cam and M8 applications right now?

Ken: Yeah.

Michelle: Do any of your shops work on any choppers or Evos?

Ken: We do work on quite a few Evos.

Michelle: Nice. What are your favorite BAKER products?

Ken: We use a lot of compensators and a lot of the GrudgeBoxes.

Michelle: Does the shop have any cool bikes that you guys own that you use to promote your business or anything like that?

Ken: Yeah, we do. I have my bike, that's a 22 Road Glide. I've got about 80 grand into it right now. It's got a 128-inch motor that's built, has a BAKER GrudgeBox, A1 Chromoly swing arm, BST carbon fiber wheels, Legends suspension, Rolling Art custom paint set on it. Thrashin T bars. I mean the list is huge.

Michelle: That sounds awesome. You'll have to send me some photos! Do you guys have an in-house Dyno?

Ken: Yeah, we dyno tune our stuff here. We're on board with all the new latest greatest tuners for the 24 models we have Impact Wiring Solutions ECM's and Thunder Max. We've already teamed with those. So, we're on it. I just finished a 24 Road Glide that made 170 horsepower and 164 ft-lbs of torque.

Michelle: Well, that's exciting. Did you get to test ride it?

Ken: Yeah, I get to test ride almost every build we do. I'm in one of my stores every day. I work pretty much every day. Yeah, I'm involved in every one of the custom bikes that we built. I've been in the Harley world for about 30 years.

Michelle: Is there any cool news about your shop?

Ken: Nothing really, the only thing that we really got going on is we just finished a new building for my Old Dominion Store and I'm about 60 days away from moving into a whole brand-new dealership for my Stonewall location. We fell into that fuel facility program.

Michelle: Wow, congrats! Do you guys host any events during the year?

Ken: We always have events going on.

Michelle: What's your biggest and most important event?

Ken: Well, we have Rolling to Remember which is Memorial Day every year. The ride to DC. I'm sure you've seen that. We get hundreds of bikes. We're one of the staging points for the ride.

Michelle: Is this ride for a special cause or charity?

Ken: The city brings the Vietnam Wall into DC. And they bring that across the country, and they bring it to DC every year. Everybody that rides in has different staging points. Everybody gets a police escort into DC and then it's at the Pentagon and they stage at the Pentagon. And then from there, everybody rides. Through DC to Thunder Alley in DC. And I'm the only veteran owned Harley dealer in the Northern Virginia area.

Michelle: Thank you for your service! That's very cool. So, here's a good question for you. What does American made mean to you?

Ken:  Made in America. We always want to try to buy and use American made products.

Michelle: What is the best way for a new customer to get in contact with you guys?

Ken: Well, the best way is to call us at 703-221-3757.
