15th Annual Born Free Motorcycle Show RecapThe 15th Annual Born Free Show was nothing short of spectacular, marking its best event yet! The excitement began with the Biltwell People's Champ at Cook's Corner, where six finalists fiercely competed. Andy Martin from Dunedin, New Zealand, emerged victorious with his stunning 1948 Panhead, earning the champion belt. The crowd, fueled by gallons of beer, cheered enthusiastically throughout the event.
Born Free 15 officially kicked off on Saturday morning, featuring over 30 invited builders from around the globe. This year's lineup included many fresh faces alongside legendary builder Dave Perewitz. Out of the 30 invited builders, Gary Royal of Beware Choppers, won the "Invited Builder" Award at Born-Free 15. His outstanding 1945 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead earned him the incredible opportunity to head to the 32nd Annual Moon Eyes Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show, alongside the Born-Free "Best in Show" winner, Luke Morris of Chop Merchandise. The Invited Builder Award at Born-Free is a prestigious honor, voted on by the builders themselves.
Harley-Davidson also provided six renowned custom builders with a brand-new 2024 model bike to customize and showcase at Born Free. These builders included Josh Allison of American Metal Customs, Mark Atkins of Rusty Butcher, Randy Hayward of Detroit Antique Motorcycles, Zach Hindes from Hindes Designs, Oliver Jones from The Cut Rate, and Pat Patterson from Led Sled Customs.
The weekend also featured the San Diego Customs FXR Show and Performance Show, adding even more excitement to the event. Additionally, the event raffled off three bikes: a 1968 Coney Island style survivor Shovelhead, a 1969 Shovel Chopper, and a 1990 FXRT rebuilt by San Diego Customs, creating even more buzz among attendees.
Overall, Born Free 15 was a celebration of incredible builds and outstanding craftsmanship from some of the best builders in the industry.
