It’s common knowledge that engine upgrades like a cam, carburetor, or bigger cubes can increase torque to the rear wheel. But the easiest and most inexpensive way to increase torque to the rear wheel, with no sacrifice in dependability, is to change your primary gearing by changing the compensating sprocket.
Includes the sprocket only. You have a stock 1999 carbureted Road King. By going from a stock 25 to a BAKER 22 tooth compensating sprocket, the torque at the rear wheel will increase by 14%. This eliminates the overall drive ratio performance advantage of fuel injected Road Kings. Changing the primary drive ratio affects the overall torque multiplication to the rear wheel. Decreasing the number of teeth on the compensating sprocket increases torque to the rear wheel and improves acceleration and performance. The trade-off for this performance improvement is an increase in the highway cruising RPM with no transmission change. If a BAKER 6-speed transmission is installed along with a new compensating sprocket, the increase in performance will be realized along with a lower highway cruising RPM than with a stock 5-speed.

Love it. Went from 25 to 23 tooth sprocket in my1996 Electra Glide Ultra Classic, FI with a trike conversion. Flipped shoe adjuster to take up stock length chain slack. Shifts smooth, primary runs quiet. Increased RPM to compensate for the extra weight and resistance of the trike kit. Motor is in much sweeter spot in 5th gear. 3000 rpm at 70mph. rear tire is car 205/70 r15. Throttle response much better. 80 inch Evo, FI. ,Screaming Eagle Heads, Crane Fireball Cam.
I mailed you to ask if the sprocket was in stock.. You replied that it was.. i ordered it in may and then i got a mail where you wrote it was now in backorder..Funny enough you withdrawed the ammount from my paypalaccount on the same day..wrote you several times to ask what the status was..NO REPLY.. called a friend in the USA to ask if she could help me out..in late August i got the sprocket..bye bye driving season..
Hello, I have a 1999 Electra Glide that I went 98ci big bore kit and a 6 speed close ratio gear set. Bike run good but I wanted to get a little more torque to the rear wheel. So I purchased a 22 tooth compensator sprocket, new chain and fat shoe. In total I dropped 2 teeth with only a 300 rpm loss per gear and you can feel the torque. I now have a much more usable gear box. A snappier 4th, 5th gear and 6th feels a lot better when rolling on the throttle. Thanks, Salty
The 23t sprocket fit well and works great with the baker OD6 with 2.95 1st the gear ratio is perfect 3000rpm at 80mph in 6th I needed the older tensioner flipped over on my 2001 FLHT. The only problem was I needed to clearance the primary cover
Bakers tech line is awesome, they’ve helped make important decisions on the mods I’ve made to my bikes. Baker has quality parts! I’ve never had a problem with anything I’ve bought from them
