Armored Attitude Adjuster

Stronger than the original for those with more abusive inclinations!
Prevent damage to your motorcycles left side motor case bearings, inner primary bearings, clutch hub bearings and transmission output gear bearings. If you have a 2006 or later Dyna, or a 2007 and later Softail/ Touring bike you know the issues that come along with the stock auto chain tensioner. At the first moment that the chain has any slack in it, the auto tensioner ratchets the shoe up another notch. Now one notch is not going to be an issue, but the tightening never stops and this causes several problems. Our manual chain tensioner allows you to set the chain to the proper 5/8”-7/8” (cold) freeplay, and never have to worry about it being too tight.   *The support kit to upgrade your original Attitude Adjuster to the new Armored Attitude Adjuster includes a support plate, hardware, shoe and a shoe keeper. PN 179-67-A.
  • Chain shoe machined from Nylon 66
  • Active Plate and Back Support Plate investment cast with 4130 steel
  • 28% finer teeth spacing (compared to 2001-06 chain adjusters) for more accurate adjustments
  • Chain adjustment method same as 2001-06 style stock ‘L’Bracket’ adjusters.

  • Increases torque by 3.42 ft/lbs
  • Reduces primary noise
  • Helps prevent damage to the primary
  • Improves motor bottom end and inner primary race bearing durability
  • 2006-Later Dyna Models
  • 2007-2017 Softail Models
  • 2007-Later Touring Models

The Armored Attitude Adjuster is an excellent solution for any non-racing application.

The Attitude Chain Adjuster solves the issues associated with the stock auto chain tensioner on 2006-Later Dyna & 2007-Later Softail/ Touring models. The first moment the chain has enough slack into it to ratchet the shoe up another notch, and thus tightening the chain, it will. One notch tighter  might not be an issue, but you don’t have any control of when this mechanism stops tightening the chain. The end result in many cases is the primary chain is so tight that it will start wearing out left side motor case bearings, inner primary bearings, clutch hub bearings and transmission output gear bearings.  Our manual chain tensioner allows you to adjust the chain to the proper 5/8-7/8″ (cold) freeplay, and never have to worry about the chain getting too tight. We offer this chain adjuster for fitment with stock outer primary covers.

Note: Check the primary chain tension at the 500-mile interval and then after every 5000 miles.  If the chain cannot be adjusted properly, then replace the chain.

        Excellent adjuster

I ditched the stock automatic adjuster after my hi-po build because it made the chain too tight! Tried another well-known aftermarket adjuster that was just too flimsy in design, and let the chain slap around the case at idle...On to the Baker: Holy heck! Solid, smart design! Great teension, no noise, and I can actually feel the difference in the performance with a properly adjusted chain! Happy knowing my primary won't self-destruct now.

        Ditch the OEM adjuster

I had upgraded years ago to the Screamin Eagle adjuster and it has always been noisy. The Baker installed easy and is well made. That typical Harley ‘neutral knock’ is gone!

        Problem Solver

I bought the Baker compensator and Armored Attitude Adjuster. What a difference. No more clunking noise when starting the bike hot. And shifts so smooth now. So far, so good. I would recommend this product.

        Sturdy, great chain support

This tensioner feels sturdy, very well made. The shoe pad is wide and offers great support to the chain. I managed to slip the shoe and bracket without removing the compensator. Instructions are detailed, just noticed the nut sizes have changed but the instructions didn't
